Full Moon -- New Try

I read Kathy's idea about balancing her camera on a fence post and went outside about 10:00 PM and took a few more shots.

First I experimented by taking these without a "tripod" and thought they were unusual. I liked the clouds around the third one and the rings around the first two even tho they aren't great photos.

I couldn't find a "fence post" in my area and all the signs were too high. A lot of clouds had "moved in" and the moon was coming towards me -- or so it seemed because earlier it was down the block and now it was overhead. . .

Then, I walked to the corner and found the perfect "in a pinch -- tripod!" It was a cluster of mailboxes at a federal building!!!!!!!!!! Each photo I took with my elbow braced on the mailbox came out so much clearer and different! CLICK on to enlarge if you choose.

Anyway, I tried again. . .

I see you are still having fun with the moon, and that is why it is there :-) I have an additional tip: Try to put something soft on top of the fence (the "pros" use a small "pillow" filled with peas) - I haven't tried it myself, but a pair of gloves might do just as well.

I'm sorry if I directed you to other wrong place. This is to a post I made yesterday at a Norwegian photoblog where I'm a member. We are a mall group, more like a net-based photo club really. We want to learn from each other and try to have fun at the same time. We post pictures and discuss them. It is open for members only to post and to comment, but it is open for anyone to watch. It is easy to become a member, but you do have to understand Norwegian! We have included Google translator for visitors.

"My moon" is the one I mentioned. I went back to the file and put it through every trick in Photoshop that I could think of to see if I could improve on it. And this is what I came up with. IF you click on the name of the blog (Norsk Nettfoto), you will be sent to the main blog. If you scroll down you will see several moons that other people have posted.

I love the effects you created in this way. These are marvelous.

You got a lot more definition with these. Rune's suggestion of a small beanbag is a good one. I have a mini-tripod for my small camera, but I haven't used it much. We got a friend one for his birthday and he uses it all the time. It only works for the very lightweight cameras, though, and I think yours would be too heavy for it.

I think your moon shots came out really good. The only moon shot I can get is during the day. At night all I get is a blurr.

Terrific shots through the leaves! Seems to help to have some clouds to focus on, too.

I tried taking a BUNCH of moon shots a few days ago, but none turned out like yours. I definitely need a better camera and a tripod … seriously!

Wow, you are having a good time with the moon. These are all great. My favorite is the first one through the leaves. Awesome.

You are very dilligent, Paulie. I probably would have given up. I like the moon thru the red leaves the best. Those are great shots. Keep up the good work.

About Me

My photo
WELCOME to my blog. I hope you will return often.

I am on my third digital camera, all Olympus. I enjoy using it and sharing my photos. I also enjoy writing. I hope to share a little of each on this blog. My main blog is Postcards From the Northwest.

Kerri and I will continue to add benches to "For the Love of Benches Continued . . . " blog also. It is good to continue to share with her!

Continuation of the Kiggins House Re-model photos were lost when my computer crashed.

The latest city project, TURTLE PLACE, will unfold here as I have time to add photos. It is complete and maybe I can find enough photos someday to show you the final results. Next project after the two I am working on now. . .
