The Elusive Dragonfly. . .

I was at the hardware store near me paying for some plastic food containers for camping when the cashier says, "Oh no! A dragonfly! I have to open the doors to let it out!!!!!!" I said, "Where"????? as I drug my camera out of my bag. (lol -- yes, I take it everywhere.) I threw her a bill so she could ring me up and walked over to the door and shot these.

I should have stopped after the first one. . . the rest were no better. . . I was hoping she would suggest that she had a step ladder that I could use. She didn't offer. I took my change and purchase and left. So goes the tale of the elusive dragonfly.

It seems to be lost or tired..Even dragonflies get the blues!

She is a shy one :) Thank you for the visit, and of course you may link to the bench or feel free to grab it for your site if you like. It is a memorial bench at our local church St-Martin-in-the-Fields here in Toronto. Hope you are having a goodly summer, and I hope to be back to blogging soonly. :)

I like these, Paulie. I especially like the first one, but I also like the attempts you made and the way you shared the experience with us.

I think you did well. Who knows, while taking those shots close together, you might have captured just the perfect one. I do that when I'm trying to capture a Butterfly with its wings open on a flower. I'm glad you included all of them and the title is perfect.

Very well done! I prefer No. 4 with the very sharp wings against the featureless background.

Whatever said...

I find those critters to be the strangest --- the two sets of wings.

Hi,
I came over from Daisy's blog, I saw the name of this post on your comment and was curious. I was taking photos of one of these little guys this afternoon.

Nice shots, I like how you show the series. They are very elusive but if you can get close they are great.

I also noticed you are in WA as well, we are in Walla Walla.

I love dragon and damsel flys. They have a lot of the same movies as butterflies, but they are easier to see.

Ha! It must have been a very shy dragonfly. Fun post!

well, at least you got a dragonfly, Paulie. I think the 1st one isn't always the best. Just keep trying. The next one will be even better. It was for me.

Now I was not saying these were bad shots, Paulie.

About Me

My photo
WELCOME to my blog. I hope you will return often.

I am on my third digital camera, all Olympus. I enjoy using it and sharing my photos. I also enjoy writing. I hope to share a little of each on this blog. My main blog is Postcards From the Northwest.

Kerri and I will continue to add benches to "For the Love of Benches Continued . . . " blog also. It is good to continue to share with her!

Continuation of the Kiggins House Re-model photos were lost when my computer crashed.

The latest city project, TURTLE PLACE, will unfold here as I have time to add photos. It is complete and maybe I can find enough photos someday to show you the final results. Next project after the two I am working on now. . .
