When I was taking photos of the benches
this man carved
(click here for an earlier post to see them on my benches blog) I saw this tall log
standing under the canopy and wondered what he was going to make next. I did not think it was another bench because the log was standing upright. He also had these on display:
. . . fish and bear. . .
and a bed, both headboard and footboard with a horse theme!
I watched him for awhile and then went on to see other things since I was at a County Fair and there was much to see. . . When I passed this spot again, this is what I found:
Later, I came back and watched him some more. . .
When I left the Fair, he had not come back to finish. He well deserved a break but I was disappointed that I did not get to see the finished product. He sure made a lot of sawdust on the ground!

About Me
- PERBS
- WELCOME to my blog. I hope you will return often.
I am on my third digital camera, all Olympus. I enjoy using it and sharing my photos. I also enjoy writing. I hope to share a little of each on this blog. My main blog is Postcards From the Northwest.
Kerri and I will continue to add benches to "For the Love of Benches Continued . . . " blog also. It is good to continue to share with her!
Continuation of the Kiggins House Re-model photos were lost when my computer crashed.
The latest city project, TURTLE PLACE, will unfold here as I have time to add photos. It is complete and maybe I can find enough photos someday to show you the final results. Next project after the two I am working on now. . .

Uh-huh, that's very cool. I love the benches! I've loved carvings like these ever since I've seen lots of them in the Pacific Northwest.
Very impressive! I like the big bears; But it's not easy to have that in the room!
It boggles my mind what some artists can do with a chainsaw!
I know there are artists with chainsaws that can do tremendous things like this. But I wouldn't dare trying. Making firewood is enough for me.
PS Thank you for the comment! There are not too many fancy tricks in the picture. With my old SLR, a macro lens and a proper set of filters it can be done. I would have had to develop and process the film myself, but I have darkroom experience :-)
This is some good work. I didn't notice if you got the name of the carver. I'd like to know.
Incredible work. Thanks, my friend. I hope you enjoyed yourself.
WOW! What talent!
My favorite: The horses!
These are wonderful. I love that bench. What a talented person.
wow...such talent!
that is amazing.
Mama Bear
Thanks for the info on Rhonda.
Sorry you're having computer issues and hope you're enjoying your day away from the Blogosphere. I finally opened Google Reader for the first time in AGES and am quickly checking posts I've missed. I loved the Homes on Mt. Rainer part 4 and had to stop here to say these are AMAZING wood carvings. Thanks for sharing ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
