Tiny car spotted. . . .

I saw this car parked at the curb last week during one of my walks around town. I don't know what to think about it. . . but, there's definitely not much storage room.

A "Smart Car" (yes, that's really what they are called.) Someone at our post office drives one. I think it must be the lady clerk rather than the guy clerk since he is about as big as it is.

Wohoo, you found a Smart! European city streets are filled with them, precisely because they fit into tiny parking spaces!

Paulie, this car is called a "SMART".We have plenty of them here. They have plenty of success because, as they are small, you can park them easily in the towns. They don't use a lot of petrol. They are easy to drive. Women especially like them. I understand your surprise, in USA you always had very big cars. But here,in Europe, with our small streets, and our cities, "Smarts" are really loved!!For me, your surprise is funny Ü

The Smart car is made by a Mercedes Benz subsidiary (no less) and has been very popular for leasing and city cars. They are not electric, but has a small motor and seating for two (a new version has four, I think). As Malyss says, they are a common sight, especially in Middle-Europe.

Most cars in Europe are less than 4.50 m and very, very few more than 5m in length. A good many are even less than 4 m in length.

My daughter took me for a ride in her mother-in-law's smart car. They are cute and real gas savers but the ride is a little rough.

Cute car but I'd feel like I was sitting on the street.

It's cute but much too small for me ... yet my sister and her husband plan to purchase one of these once their RV travels end!

About Me

My photo
WELCOME to my blog. I hope you will return often.

I am on my third digital camera, all Olympus. I enjoy using it and sharing my photos. I also enjoy writing. I hope to share a little of each on this blog. My main blog is Postcards From the Northwest.

Kerri and I will continue to add benches to "For the Love of Benches Continued . . . " blog also. It is good to continue to share with her!

Continuation of the Kiggins House Re-model photos were lost when my computer crashed.

The latest city project, TURTLE PLACE, will unfold here as I have time to add photos. It is complete and maybe I can find enough photos someday to show you the final results. Next project after the two I am working on now. . .
