Blog Your Blessings Sunday

If you care to join us acknowledging our blessings go here: Blue Panther

My blessing today is a dear old friend who has been as much a part of my life as my own Mother who died many years ago. Her name is Myrl and she had a stroke a few years ago and can't talk with her vocal cords anymore but she talks to me with her eyes and she understand what I say to her. When her one non-paralyzed hand reaches out to me, I get tears in my eyes.

She now lives in a huge caregiver home down by the Columbia River so I have to walk to visit her because there is no bus out that way. I do it because I love her. I saw something familiar on the entrance of the caregiver home this week --it was always there in front of her home where she used to live in before her stroke. This carved bear stump used to hold her spare house key in case she got locked out. I can tell that now since it no longer does but probably makes Myrl feel more "at home" in her new place.

This week when I went to visit her, I took her this simple Valentine I made but it was the words I wrote inside that expressed my love for her and reminded her of the "good times we had together" memories.

Yes, Myrl, you ARE my blessing this week and always!

Thinking of You. The tagline of your Valentine card carries the whole crux.

What a way to celebrate your Valentine. Many wishes to you and Myrl.

Thanks...

What a blessing she has in you! If you wish to communicate further, try taking your photographs to her. Ask her which one she likes best, does she remember this place, etc. If she can point, she can communicate with an alphabet board.

Blessings!

About Me

My photo
WELCOME to my blog. I hope you will return often.

I am on my third digital camera, all Olympus. I enjoy using it and sharing my photos. I also enjoy writing. I hope to share a little of each on this blog. My main blog is Postcards From the Northwest.

Kerri and I will continue to add benches to "For the Love of Benches Continued . . . " blog also. It is good to continue to share with her!

Continuation of the Kiggins House Re-model photos were lost when my computer crashed.

The latest city project, TURTLE PLACE, will unfold here as I have time to add photos. It is complete and maybe I can find enough photos someday to show you the final results. Next project after the two I am working on now. . .
