My blessing continues to be more Spring flowers -- although Spring also brings allergies, the beauty of the colorful flowers are worth it. Such a variety and they just keep on coming!
Well, blogger isn't cooperating so you will have to take my word for it about the variety of flowers all over Vancouver! I can't show you more that I wanted to but here's a teaser for tomorrow's post . . . roses from the downtown Rose garden!

Happy Memorial Day!
Going to a ceremony later today to honor the military in the United States wherever the troops are serving and to honor those who have died for our country -- with a special ceremony for those Verterans who died within the past year from Clark County where I live. Not only do we remember those who served and returned, those who died while serving but those who serve presently. God bless America!

At the park in downtown Vancouver, we have a rose garden that is taken care of by a Rose Society. Each spring, I Iook forward to seeing the roses bloom. . . and they surprised me this weekend with having a few varieties already blooming. They last most of the summer and it is one of my favorite spots to take photos. It doesn't hurt that the Farmer's market is right next to it or that Summer Concerts In the Park are right there on the bandstand too! Ü So, discovering the first roses thee this weekend is definitely my blessing this week!!!!!!!! Here's a few samples for you to enjoy too: (All enlarge if you CLICK on them.)

Through the eye of the drainage tunnel. . .
On a hill on the way to my friend's house, I saw this big drainage ditch below the house and yard but near the street. A bridge went over it to the yard and house. The water was low and you could see through it. . . I liked the view "through the tunnel" and the way that little bit of rain water reflected in the sunlight, the shapes it displayed because of the shadows and the colors and textures it exuded. . . oh, heck! I loved all of it! CLICK on to see details best.

A friend in my apartment building asked me if I would like to join their family on a 5 KM walk over two bridges in Portland on the 17th of May. I like to walk so. of course, I said yes. We are walking for an organization called NAMI and that includes all kinds of mental illness. My friend has done it for 5 years already. This will be my first time.
Of course, the organizers want you to collect financial support for NAMI. I am usually too timid to ask anyone for support but I did ask a few friends at church and, through their generosity and my small donation, ended up with $105.00. THESE generous people that contributed to my pledges are my blessing this week. Thank you! I am so glad that our donations can help people in WA state even tho we are walking in OR.
Soooooooooooo, thank you, Yvonne, Elaine, Kathy G., Kathy H., Eunice, Gretchen, Roni, George and Joyce and me! You are a blessing to me and NAMI.

Well, we made it althought the weather was above 85 during the walk! I took quite a few photos so hope to share some later on. Three miles is not too far to walk usually but the heat and the slowness we had to proceed made it seem like a longer walk and I am glad to be home.

About Me
- PERBS
- WELCOME to my blog. I hope you will return often.
I am on my third digital camera, all Olympus. I enjoy using it and sharing my photos. I also enjoy writing. I hope to share a little of each on this blog. My main blog is Postcards From the Northwest.
Kerri and I will continue to add benches to "For the Love of Benches Continued . . . " blog also. It is good to continue to share with her!
Continuation of the Kiggins House Re-model photos were lost when my computer crashed.
The latest city project, TURTLE PLACE, will unfold here as I have time to add photos. It is complete and maybe I can find enough photos someday to show you the final results. Next project after the two I am working on now. . .
