Mt. St Helens memory

The tulips are almost gone and I missed the best of them not having a camera I could use but here is an oldie of Mt. St Helens I had saved on Photobucket.

More snow from last week . . .

It snowed off and on all day today but I didn't get any great photos from it because it kept melting. Sure was pretty coming down tho. So instead, here's some older ones I haven't shared yet. We have had it snow 17 days this winter!

Last week's snow

It snowed both Sunday and Tuesday but each time, most of it was melted within 24 hours. I have these photos to remember the enjoyment I got from walking in it.

Just a memory now. . .

Three weeks can make a big difference. Our snow is all gone now but the news said there's a possibility of more this coming weekend. Can it happen again? Maybe. . . hope so! When I lived in southeastern Idaho, I would have said YES! I remember the blizzard we had on Valentine's Day in Pocatello the year I moved to Washington. I can only hope.

If you didn't know it before, I LOVE SNOW! Last week I had a few snow photos to post but for some reason, I could not get even one to upload. I tried and tried. I still can't upload those particular photos so I am trying with some others. . . (possibly my files are too large with this new camera because I can now load two photos and it takes awhile but they finally appear. . . )

I managed to get one photo to upload earlier today. . . and my blessing is 11 days of snow, two rather large snowfalls -- one of them just before Christmas and one on Christmas Day. AND the best part is that winter isn't over yet! Maybe it will snow for my birthday on the 12th????? ANYWAY . . .
I was walking to a friend's home a couple miles off the bus route to visit her like I do often and every Christmas Day. . . you see, my friend had a stroke 4 years ago and doesn't get out much anymore. I thought this scene with the horses and it snowing was very interesting. . . PLEASE click on it to enlarge and see it snowing!!!!!
These poor weeds seem to be drowning in snow and I like the simplicity of the photo.
As you can see, the snow went right down to the Columbia River's edge and meets the broken ice.
This bush has flowers that have curled into "pom poms" shape and almost look like cherries hanging from a tree. You can really see the snow drifts here.

This is the scene in front of our apartment building one snowy morning.
Another snowy car down the street. . .
This is the street in front of the historical Fort vancouver replica. I had walked over to the LAND BRIDGE, over it, into the Fort Vancouver's field and around the barracks and finally up this street which looked so beautiful and peaceful that I had to take a photo.
See that chunk of ice in the snowbank? I was shoveling the sidewalks at our apartment building because maintenance doesn't work weekends and I love to shovel snow. . . BUT FIRST, I had to break through the ice chunks that had formed overnight. It was still fun to do the job and many appreciated it.
Look at all that snow! This house is boarded up because the property was bought for a new library, business high rise and condos.

So this has been my blessing for the past two weeks. . . lots of snow!

I have missed visiting everyone and will be around this week again.

Snow Dusting -- third try to be winter--sigh

Since there wasn't much snow, I looked for oddities to photograph and liked this pattern.

Just thought I was taking a photo of the snow dusting on leaves that hadn't been raked up and discovered red berries on another plant also! CLICK to enlarge and see for yourself!
Thought this one just had some red berries contrasting in the snow BUT look near the top near the 2nd red berry and see a water bubble I also captured. . .
Side by side, two different shoe prints. Neither were mine.


It got very dark fast after my little stroll following the brief snowfall so I headed home but decided to see if a bench on a trail was still there. . . then I re-traced my walk near apartment building to see if I could capture the things I tried to yesterday in the dark. I was a bit more successful although I don't know what I did differently. Yesterday, the photos were mostly black.

This was the most snow I could find in one place. . . pretty sad huh?
This weed was taken by turning the camera. It uploaded sideways but I decided to leave it. . . kinda odd huh?
I was going to catch the bus and head home but decided to hunt out this bench along part of the Discovery Trail. It was too dark to walk the trail even tho it was heading in the direction of home. The bus arrived a few minutes later and I went home, hoping that the snow expected this weekend is more than a dusting. . . I guess I will go move the snowflake on my calendar to 3 snow days this winter so far.

As far as my eyes could see,

Evergreen branches are frosted with snow
like sugar cookies at Christmastime.
With views like these ,we don't need to wonder why
God said, "Let there be snow upon the earth."

My interent friend, Jenny McB, told me about this SCRAPBLOG site. For some time now, Sandy Carlson has inspited me to write my own poetry but I never tried until this week when I had this new forum to use both photography and words called poetry. These two people are my blessing this week because now I have a way to show off my special photos and try my hand with poetry. Thank you Jenny for sharing this site url with me and to Sandy for inspiring me to try my hand at poetry that doesn't have to rhyme. I hope I can learn to use the widgets better to make my scrapblog pages even more appealing.
