Blue skies and a pond for ducks . . .can it get any better?
Only if you can get some good shots of the ducks!
Can't remember what this webbed sac is called but it has been a long time since I spotted one on one of my walks. Ok looked it up -- "It's a funnel web, and as you see consists of a flat, horizontal sheet of web that "funnels" into a tunnel-like hole. That hole is where the spider stays. An insect blunders onto the web, inside the hole the spider feels vibrations of the hapless critter on his web, the spider rushes out, bites the insect, and carries it back into the funnel. As the spider grows it adds new layers to the flat web, so you can look at the web and judge how large the spider is. In the fall, female Funnel Weaver spiders deposit egg sacs in narrow places such as between rocks and loose tree bark, then dies -- sometimes still clinging to her egg sac. Funnel Weaver spiders belong to the family Agelenidae."

This little guy almost got away from me when I was coming home from the Memorial for 9-11. The people following me thought it was neat that I would stop to take a photo of a little creature that almost lost its life being stepped on. One man said I am just like his son photographing everything. Hopefully that was a compliment. . .
Maybe Fall is in the air after all even tho I hate to admit that summer has said its goodbyes . . . Can winter snows be far behind? Hard to think of when the weather is so hot during "Indian Summer" for us.
I think I find some of the most beautiful things when I go on my walks along the paved trails we have in abundance here. . . this is my favorite subject to photograph on a walk here.

I looked up the definition for Indian Summer. The best I could figure was it is more common in the northern states. Here, it usually is a warm spell after the first frost.
I'd say what we are experiencing here is the last of summer with the cooler night time temperatures of early Fall.
I wish I could walk with you my friend.
Honey Bear is very patient with my photography disease. He even turns the car around when necessary so I can get a photograph. I think it is a compliment when someone notices. It recognizes that you take time to see the beauty others miss.

Such a beautiful paved trail. It's so beautiful with the bark along the trail. This year the beach promenade nearby us has got a restoration, with bark along the one side, too. Small stones along the other side. And what a difference!
I enlarged all your photos, they are really wonderful! Who is "the householder" of that webbed sac?? Spiders? I hope the nice summer weather still will last for a while.. (Even if it's Autumn now..)

WoW! That must be a big funnel weaver! Here I learned something new. It's great to be a blogger :) I've never seen a funnel web before. Thank you so much for your comments! I appreciate it. I do have a zoom on my camera, but I would love to have a macro lense. I get my photos cut and enlarged and sharpened in PhotoScape. Besides I have WindowsWriter. Else my photos would have been more small of size and not so sharp. Thanks to those softwares :)
