More Mount Hood

I went for a short walk today down by the I-5 bridge on the Columbia River this time. I also walked the LAND bridge over Hiway 14 and then home again. It was another beautiful day with blue skies and whisps of clouds and many contrails in that blue sky. I had several places to take a photo of Mt. Hood, across the Columbia River in Oregon. These are a variety of my photos of the mountain today: CLICK on to enlarge. I took these in various places along my walk. It is surprising to see how many places you can view Mt. Hood from in Vancouver.

Although much of the sky was as blue as could be, parts closer to Mt. Hood had wispy clouds BUT this is the first time in many days that I have even been able to see THE MOUNTAIN. I took this from the peninsula that juts out into the Columbia River. You can see traffic on the bridge and even a boat in the river. This morning, we have the dense fog back but it is expected to lift by afternoon and be in the 50's again. And they call this winter? Glad we aren't having the below freezing most of the rest of the country is having. CLICK to enlarge.

Why I haven't been around to visit blogs yet today. . .

See that beautiful blue sky backdrop? YES! It belongs to us here in Vancouver and surrounding vicinity. After days and days of fog, we have BLUE SKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took a long walk along the river today. walking part way to Wintler Park and then to Marine Park and a bit more to catch the bus home. I have lots of wonderful photos to share in the coming days.

I even saw Mt. Hood in Oregon because we had clear skies! It's been a long time since we had a clear sky day to see Mt. Hood. So, while the people back east are "freezing to death," we are experiencing temperatures in the lower 50's this week. . . I had a wonderful day out walking.

I will be around to visit my regular bunch tonight. . .
My friend at "Bears in Exile -- Return Home" reminded me they are Sweet Gum Burrs that I photographed the blue sky background through. Thanks! I could not remember the name.

Birthday blessings. . .

Among my internet friends, I got two special things. The first was a card from Sammie (Bears In Exile) that had snowflakes on the inside edges, the cake graphic and dotted "i" were a snowflakes too! It arrived exactly on my birthday. I really appreciate the thoughtfulness of my blog friend.

Kathy (Katney) sent me a package and I have to chuckle at her because she told me that she passed up this item a couple times and then went back and got it for ME because she just knew I would love adding it to my snowmen collection. Below are some photos of the process of opening it.

Well, I made it to another birthday! To celebrate, I want to share two more of my snow photos. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.


I got 12 days of snow this winter so far -- I would say that was a great early birthday present.

Blog Your Blessings Sunday-- Memories

For ten days this winter, we had snow everyday, even if it was just a little. I think the total was 14 inches. Now, all that remains are the memories and the photos I took. This is one of my favorites as the deep brown fence contrasts well with the snow below it AND on it and gives depth to the tree beyond the fence with its many branches covered with a blanket of snow. Without that deep brown fence contrast, it would just be another black and white photo.

We usually don't get much snow here but this year's snowfall broke some long standing records this winter so far. Now, with the rain and cold lingering and the white beauty gone, I can sit back and remember the snow memories I made this year even IF we don't get any more snow this winter. (What an awful thought that "no more" is. . . )

So, for sure, I can't count on my SNOW MEMORIES from this winter and that is definitely a blessing in my book!
