Variety of pretty flowers . . .

I dont know the names of any of them. If you do, leave me a note and I will label them.

Hydrangea and Hortensia
In most species the flowers are white, but in some species (notably H. macrophylla), can be blue, red, pink, light purple, or dark purple. In these species the exact colour often mirrors the pH of the soil; acidic soils produce blue flowers, neutral soils produce very pale cream petals, and alkaline soils results in pink or purple. This is the caused by a color change of the flower pigments in the presence of aluminium ions which can be taken up into hyperaccumulating plants

Blog Your Blessings

If you care to join us acknowledging our blessings go here: Blue Panther

I walked to the Farmers Market Saturday for its opening day this year and on my way,
everywhere said SPRING was in the air!
Of course, it was raining too! Ü
My blessing this week is the re-birth of the Spring flowers
to remind us of change and that even when the flowers die off
there is hope for re-birth in the Spring again next year.
It's a good reminder for me after my brother's death. . . one day, we will all "live again!"

Can SPRING be far behind?

I found my first flowers yesterday near a cement wall of the entrance to the bridge that I walked over. I have no idea what they are -- maybe Katney will identfy them for me. They are very tiny and this is a macro shot but hard to tell since there is nothing but a wall in the background on which they seemed to be climbing..

Your EG Tour Guide identified them as VERONICA and I verified his answer on Google. (Both images and info) It said this about this flower:

Flowering - March - August.( It is almost March. . . )

Habitat - Open rocky woods, glades, waste ground, cultivated areas, fields, pastures, lawns, roadsides, (It was on the bicycle/walkers entrance to the I-205bridge) railroads.

Origin - Native to Europe.

Other info. - This little introduced species can be found throughout Missouri. This is one of the earliest little plants to bloom in the spring. (It isn't quite spring here yet. . . ) The earliest flowers tend to be smaller than the flowers that come later in the season. This is an easy species to ID in the field because of the small blue flowers, sessile leaves, and pubescent stems. The info in between {and) are my comments.

About Me

My photo
WELCOME to my blog. I hope you will return often.

I am on my third digital camera, all Olympus. I enjoy using it and sharing my photos. I also enjoy writing. I hope to share a little of each on this blog. My main blog is Postcards From the Northwest.

Kerri and I will continue to add benches to "For the Love of Benches Continued . . . " blog also. It is good to continue to share with her!

Continuation of the Kiggins House Re-model photos were lost when my computer crashed.

The latest city project, TURTLE PLACE, will unfold here as I have time to add photos. It is complete and maybe I can find enough photos someday to show you the final results. Next project after the two I am working on now. . .
