Temptation . . .

Last Friday when I went on my hike around a neighborhood to the northwest of me, I saw this pear just hanging there, ready to be picked. . . BOY! I sure wanted to pull it off the tree and eat it! I behaved myself tho and just took a photo. sigh

Today's Flowers. . .

Go here if you want to participate: Today's Flowers

I have decided to try this once more. I am well aware of checking the link it posts this time on Mr. Linky because although I changed it and asked the old one to be deleted, the new link always got deleted instead. Hoping I do it right today.

I love flowers and went on a flower hunt just for this meme. This Dahlia is one of them -- CLICK on it to see it it all its splendor.

Passion Flower

IF you CLICK on nothing else I post, do so on this flower and you won't be sorry you took the extra time!

Malyss and Kathy identified this flower for me on Friday. I hunted it down again late Friday morning and got a better shot so am using it up for my post for Blog Your Blessing Sunday also. These two friends have been my blessing this week in helping me to identify it. (See Friday's post and comments.) I remembered the general area I photographed it in but didn't remember where and Friday morning, I tried to find it and couldn't. I gave it another try when I went out again after retrieving more batteries for camera and found it closer to home than I originally remembered --there it was hiding among other flowers and more of the same kind that hadn't opened up yet! I was reading Friday afternoon that a bee or other insect has to pollinate it in order for it to open up. Guess that makes it another blessing that I found it huh?

The tale of the daisy, the bee and the ant. . .

I am just not always fast enough getting my camera out and ready to shoot the photo before something in the picture MOVES! I know my limitations so I just took a picture so I wouldn't miss this completely. It is not centered but I got the bee and the ant!!!!
CLICK on to see the bee in all its glory and then go look at the daisy with just the ant below taken after I had time to "center" the flower. The water droplets from our shower recently also make the photo one of my favorites!

More centered now but only the slow ant remains behind.

So many details to look at. . .

I wish I had gotten this one a little more centered -- the wind was moving the plants and I didn't get it as good as I wanted but still love the details of this plant. CLICK on to observe it in detail. . . If someone knows the name of it, please tell me.

Little Street Pumpkin Patch Quilt . . .

I found all these pumpkins growing where I got the photo of the pumpkin recently for an earlier blog.

Our city's rose garden is still blooming!

When I went to Saturday Market this week, many of the roses were still blooming. CLICK on it to enlarge for a wonderful viewing experience!

Another small sunflower spotted!

I saw this one trying to grow before the cooler temperatures of Autumn hit. The yellow is so pale compared to most sunflowers I have seen. It is cared for -- the owners have tied the stalks to the building so it won't tip over. It's on a little downtown church building. CLICK on to enlarge and get a real treat!

Can't see me!!!!!!!!!!

This little guy thought he was hiding from me and that my camera wouldn't find it if it held very still. . .doesn't look like a branch to me!

Today's Flowers. . .

ODD SHOTS is just below this post.

Go here if you want to participate: Today's Flowers

This is my first entry. It is a Cosmos. I took it this past week. CLICK to see its beauty!
NOTE:
This is also my last entry. I am a complete failure at leaving the correct link and probably all those I visited won't even find their way here since the link is from a different blog that I was on since I was checking email over there and forgot to go to this name for the posts before I commented on blogs and left my name on Mr. Linky. I apologize.

ODD SHOTS MONDAY

I was walking around a neighborhood when I spotted this . . . a lawn sprinkler! I found it to be quite odd!!!!!!! I included the hose in the photo to see the connection. Never saw a sprinkler like this before.

I was walking around a nearby neighborhood when I spotted RASPBERRIES! I was surprised to see it this time of the year. I actually sampled some on a couple different occasions. Friday, I met the lady who grows them! She invited me to sample some. She says they grow their garden in the area between the sidewalk and the street because there is no sunshine in the back of the house because of the two big trees in her yard. Now, I have solved the reason why so many in this neighborhood are gardening in the curb areas.

Anyway, having the taste of a ripe raspberry at this time of year was wonderful and quite the blessing! CLICK on photo to enlarge to see even the unripe berries look scrumptious!

Pumpkin delight. . .

Wonder what will happen to this pumpkin next month? Will it be a great tasting pie or a jack o lantern for some kid's delight? This old neighborhood grows their gardens in the little area between the sidewalk and the street. I hope no one runs off with it before the family can harvest it.

"Squirrely" day Wednesday . . .

This is our resident squirrel at my apartment building. Some of the Russian ladies that live here feed the squirrels every day so they are not afraid of the hand that feeds them. I was walking up to the front entrance and it wasn't about to move so I could go by. . . so I took out my camera!
This once beautiful bird bath has a squirrel in it too! I almost saved it for ODD SHOTS because there is no visible base but decided it fit in with the rest of today's squirrels.
I arrived at Kiggins House to take photos of my daily updates and was met by this little guy, He ran from me at first but that nut in his mouth must have been too good to lose or wait for so it stopped and ignored me and my camera!

There was a full moon Tuesday night. It is called the Harvest Moon. I got a couple photos of it Tuesday night and this is what it looked like:

Arnada Neighborhood Beauties. . .

Not sure if this is a butterfly but I have seen lots of them around this summer and only one Tiger Swallowtail the whole year. This one kept flitting around so fast that it was hard to get a photo of it. It will look better if you CLICK on it and enlarge it.
If you only CLICK ON one of these to see details, this is the one! (Well, maybe the last one also . . . ) The various shades of pink are so much more visible when you do!

I have no idea what this is growing in a flower bed near the curb with the street in the background but it definitely looks better when you enlarge it.

I think this is a flower gone to seed. It is my favorite --if you didn't enlarge the others, at least do this one to see all the details.

ODD SHOTS MONDAY

If you want to join ODD SHOTS, see Katney.

I know this photo isn't centered. I saw it at the last minute and didn't want to walk back there because I was in a hurry going to a meeting. The sign is pretty funny and definitely odd to me!

I went by this same house today and a young man was sitting on the porch. I asked him what the sign meant and he said it was his landlord's nickname!

Blog Your Blessings Sunday #44

If you care to join us acknowledging our blessings go here: Blue Panther

Some consider the days after Labor Day to be Fall or Autumn but it really hasn't arrived yet. . . the nights may be getting cooler and it gets darker sooner but that wonderful sunshine that brings high temperatures and blue skies is with us for an extended season called "Indian Summer." Most people know this season who live in the north east but I grew up with it in SE Idaho and I have lived all over the United States except the deep south and enjoyed it there too. These hot days after Labor Day have been welcomed by me and others and I consider it a blessing when we are celebrating them because all too soon it will be Fall with the steady rains and then Winter, hopefully with some snow, then Spring flowers before Summer comes again.

Thank you, Lord, for the sunshine!

September Pink . . .

This is the same flower. When I was reducing it, a portion of it looked kinda neat so I posted that also. It didn't look so great original size. I guess some things look better smaller. . .

Apples to go?

I saw these yummy looking apples on my way to get photos at the Kiggins House Re-model. Don't they look inviting to pick?

In memory of those who lost their lives 7 years ago on this day, especially for Jean Roger, 24, whose family I have been thinking of and praying for these past 7 years.

This origami crane was given out at a paper craft store the week of the "first" September 11th. We were encouraged to remember someone who died this day by taking home a crane and praying for their family to have peace.

So we had a little rain at Rainier. . .

This is my last post about my camping trip to Mt. Rainier with Katney and her hubby. YES, we had rain at Rainier. . . Ü It sure made the plants beautiful with water droplets clinging to them and some ready to drop off any minute. If you want to see the real beauty, CLICK on each to enlarge to get the best viewing of the raindrops.

About Me

My photo
WELCOME to my blog. I hope you will return often.

I am on my third digital camera, all Olympus. I enjoy using it and sharing my photos. I also enjoy writing. I hope to share a little of each on this blog. My main blog is Postcards From the Northwest.

Kerri and I will continue to add benches to "For the Love of Benches Continued . . . " blog also. It is good to continue to share with her!

Continuation of the Kiggins House Re-model photos were lost when my computer crashed.

The latest city project, TURTLE PLACE, will unfold here as I have time to add photos. It is complete and maybe I can find enough photos someday to show you the final results. Next project after the two I am working on now. . .
